5 Lessons on Changing Career Paths

I’m glad I managed to keep my heart open through the setbacks, doubt and frustration for long enough to experience the magic on the other side, where I can finally say ‘it gets easier’. Cause damn it’s hard and vulnerable to be ‘new on the job’ - even when the work feels meaningful.

4 years back (almost on the day) I decided to leave my career in E-Commerce and re-align with my heart’s purpose. This took some time to figure out what that was exactly, but when I found things that ignited a fire in me I leaned into it.

As part of my path to set up retreats, teach and guide others I somehow thought once I had aligned with my purpose that things would just automatically flow and be easy from there. NOPE. That was not the case.

I truly believe what is meant for you will call you, but that still doesn’t mean it will be a friction-free path. Starting over and doing something new will often push you to your edge, but that’s an opportunity to grow your capacity for discomfort with a lot of self-love and patience. AND THEN AT SOME POINT it finally gets a little easier.

Sending love to anyone staying with the discomfort of being new in a career/job/situation
and allowing yourself to slowly find your ground:

5 LESSONS ON CHANGING CAREER PATHS

Here are 5 lessons I learned (and perhaps still learning) as part of my career transition:

🌱 Regularly check in with your expectations. Are they fair on you? Don’t compare yourself to others, compare yourself to where you were a year ago.

🌱 There will be failures & setbacks, but they’re not signs you’ve taken the wrong path. It’s part of proving to yourself that this matters to you and the lesssons to be embraced on the way.

🌱 Make your ‘why’ clear. Your intention will help carry you through the rough patches.

🌱 Don’t try to perfect yourself. Your authenticity is your secret spice that people will come to you for.

🌱 Separate between who you are and what you do. It’s hard to get past setbacks, but it’s a hell of a lot harder if you attach your self worth to what you do.

🌱It’s gonna get harder before it gets easier. Don’t underestimate the time this takes. Lean into self-love💚
