  • It takes time and practice to develop skills and form new behaviours, which is why I ask you to commit to a minimum of 8 sessions (held weekly or bi-weekly). This is in line with a large body of research supporting the benefit of 8-week mindfulness-based courses and the average of 59-70 days it takes to form a new habit.

  • Yes, this process is largely experiential, meaning that it’s focused on building skills, new routines and an embodied understanding of your insights that will support you in your life.

    For the first 8 sessions/weeks, I recommend committing to 10-20 minutes of daily practice. If this isn’t achievable in your life right now, we will work out a plan that feels doable for you.

    Ultimately, knowledge and insights alone won’t lead to any lasting change unless it’s backed up by action - doing things differently.

  • All the strategies and techniques used in this program have a large evidence base supporting their effectiveness in improving different aspects of human wellbeing, health and performance.

    The foundation of the program is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, which was developed in the light of research at University of Oxford’s Mindfulness Reserach Centre, where I studied to become a certified teacher. A meta-analysis of 49 studies among 5,000 healthy adults found that these mindfulness-based interventions significantly reduced stress levels, anxiety and depression, and significantly improved resilience, quality of life, and wellbeing (Querstret 2020).

    Multiple studies using brain imaging/MRI demonstrate that these benefits are also reflected in how the brain actually works, showing functional and structural changes in for example the insula, which is the seat of empathy and connection. Just 8-weeks of mindfulness training is sufficient to see the beginning of these changes (Farb 2010), suggesting the deep-seated changes taking place.

  • The sessions are experiential, where we spend most of our time doing different practices that will support your skills development and awareness in relation to your wellbeing and self-connection. Practices include mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, cognitive exercises, and are always supported by reflective inquiry and theoretical models to deepen your understanding of your experiences and insights.

    All sessions start and finish with a check-in, allowing you to reflect on how things are going and ensuring that our time is dedicated toward what’s most helpful for you, moving you toward your intention for embarking on this journey.
